Winter is dark and stormy. A perfect time to confront our own dark sides and tame the storm: Let’s improve our English skills together and hear the unheard, speak the unspoken and pronounce the unpronouncable!
From November to March, we open the Thursday Salon once a month to discuss an interesting topic in a convivial atmosphere, and we do so in English. Which topic we discuss depends on those who volunteer to open the Salon with a presentation.
The Thursday Salon will take place on

- 26 February 2026
- 26 March 2026.
Doors will be open 7:30 pm, start 8 pm, and because we all are old and need to fulfill our duties also on Fridays, we will end the latest by 11 pm.
If you have landed on this page, you will have received an invitation. However, there are only 10 places available in the salon, on a first come, first served basis. We therefore ask you to confirm your attendance for the next salon. Once all places are taken, no further places will be available. RULES OF THE GAME:
- Each salon begins with a 20-minute presentation by a volunteer on a topic of their choice—serious or funny or both: tell us something we don’t know yet, delight us with a piece of literature, give us food for thought and inspire the conversation… If you want to contribute, please get in touch.
- The salon is located at Hübschmannstr. 18 on the Kaßberg in Chemnitz.
- Hosts are Aletta and Ron.
- If you come, bring something to drink; snacks will be provided.
- Etiquette: No vocabulary or grammar shaming, all accents are welcome, so are all levels. The Thursday Salon has an unjudgmental atmosphere to improve our English skills—for everyone. Which is why corrections are welcome, too.
